Does Revitalizing the Center of Mid-Sized French Cities Reduce GHG Emissions from Commuting?

چکیده
Mid-sized cities are usually considered in the literature to be shrinking cities. Some policies promote right-sizing and others revitalization. The relationship between land-use planning mobility having been established, present research issue is focused on whether a policy of revitalizing centers mid-sized favorable low-carbon mobility. Our study investigates commuting trips through two indicators: trip distance car modal share. increase total population, number jobs per resident, decrease unemployment rate, rate executives, working people population residential vacancy all come from censuses 2006 2016. Statistical models based individuals 113 cities, which sociodemographic variables introduced, show that at level agglomerations, no indicator has simultaneously positive effect center urban periphery. No entirely or negative GHG emissions trips. While 2016 significant (18%), shift toward city insufficient change this trajectory.

Determinants of cities’ GHG emissions: a comparison of seven global cities
Purpose – Urban areas are responsible for significant amounts of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, but cities can have quite different values of carbon footprints. The purpose of this paper is to identify the determinants of urban GHG emissions in order to explain these differences. Design/methodology/approach – Seven global cities – Bangkok, Chicago, London, Madrid, Mexico City, Milan and New Yo...
متن کاملDecoupling urban transport from GHG emissions in Indian cities — A critical review and perspectives
How to sustain rapid economic and urban growth with minimised detriment to environment is a key challenge for sustainable development and climate change mitigation in developing countries which face constraints of technical and financial resources scarcity as well as dearth of infrastructure governance capacity. This paper attempts to address this question by investigating driving forces of tra...
متن کاملGHG emissions from international shipping and aviation
International shipping accounts for about 2 percent of annual global CO2 emissions. Aviation annually contributes to approximately 3.5 percent of the total human climate change effects, taking into account that several emissions from planes contribute. The emissions occur outside national control, and need broad international cooperation to be curbed. Voluntary agreements and technical standard...
متن کاملTrends and Projected Estimates of GHG Emissions from Indian Livestock in Comparisons with GHG Emissions from World and Developing Countries
This study presents trends and projected estimates of methane and nitrous oxide emissions from livestock of India vis-à-vis world and developing countries over the period 1961 to 2010 estimated based on IPCC guidelines. World enteric methane emission (EME) increased by 54.3% (61.5 to 94.9 ×10(9) kg annually) from the year 1961 to 2010, and the highest annual growth rate (AGR) was noted for goat...
متن کاملRanking factors affecting emissions of GHG from incubated agricultural soils
Agriculture significantly contributes to global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and there is a need to develop effective mitigation strategies. The efficacy of methods to reduce GHG fluxes from agricultural soils can be affected by a range of interacting management and environmental factors. Uniquely, we used the Taguchi experimental design methodology to rank the relative importance of six fact...
